Our Cantaloupes and Romaine are OK!

You have heard about a recall on cantaloupes due to possible listeria contamination.  The cantaloupes in question all came from a farm in Colorado.  Our cantaloupes are from Turlock, California, and so are not part of the recall, and are safe to eat.

To further ensure that the melons you eat are safe, the UC Davis Extension recommends washing cantaloupe under cold running water, scrubbing the surface with a vegetable brush, before slicing.  After cutting, melons need to be covered and refrigerated or kept on ice until used.

The recall on romaine lettuce is for True Leaf brand packaged Chopped Romaine Lettuce, with a “use by” date of September 29.  We do not carry this product.

You may have seen our produce truck – if you're out early in the morning.  Dave is our produce buyer and department supervisor for both stores.

Dave is one of our original employees-one of our first hires at our inception in 1985!

He buys direct from the San Francisco produce market and from local growers when in season, including organic farmers.

You can be assured, if the produce isn't the best, Dave won't bring it "home" to Sonoma Market and Glen Ellen Village Market!
